I was on the other side of such a story once Of course he felt that there was a connection: I was mirrowing him, asking him questions and gave energy because I liked him A few months in, I realized that he never even asked how I was, never listened actively on my stories or cared much about me. he only liked me as a good listener to his stories and thought there was a connection, what a brick. I then gave up all contact. But really, I can't allways make up for other peoples social incompetence and stay unhappy myself. I also doubt that he even cared.

People who do this only want validation - they want the feeling that they are ok or hot enough to grab someone of value and waste his time AKA: get the feeling or know that they can still go on dates and people want them be it sexual or mentally. As a man your most precious resource is time - dont give it free willy nilly to everyone - do something simple like plan a date at a park(usual go to) grab a cup of coffee or visit a local site/view and never pay for everything.
